Steps to Get Recruited

1) Get good grades in college prep courses. Use the NCAA link at the bottom of this post and it will detail what those 16 core classes are.  Only those classes count towards your Core GPA for scholarships.  At the end of the day it is imperative that you understand your academics are crucial in this process.

2) Take the SAT and or the ACT.  Try both tests as some people do better on different tests.

3) Understand where you are on the sliding scale.  Again this is the GPA in your core classes matched with your SAT score or ACT score.  Just by meeting the minimum on this scale only allows to qualify for a scholarship.  It doesnt mean you meet the minimum for a given school just the minimum for a scholarship in the eyes of the NCAA

4) Attend a combine.  Get your height/weight measured and get your speed timed in a variety of events.  It is important to get this done by an independent organization. Last year I blogged about this. Also here are the links for NUC combine in Dinuba, the NIKE Sparq combines, and the Cal State Game combine.

5) Make a highlight film.  Use DSV online or contact Coach Hammond to sit down and make one at school.

6) Meet with Coach and discuss what is a good fit for you.

7) Get your information out to schools that fit your level of play and academic profile.

8) Lastly if schools show interest attend their camps.

Great NCAA link on the process

Great Website about the Realities of Recruiting with valuable information.
